I am a Parish Councillor passionately dedicated to raising awareness to local authorities about the need for major infrastructure re routing to ease and solve Maidstone's chronic traffic congestion.

Good on you for starting this. However, you also need to start the debate about uncontrolled house building which has no democratic accountability. No one wants this level or speed of growth and there is no accountable way to challenge it. You actually need judicial review to challenge it and that is not right. The road is just one symptom of this.

Thank you Kevin for your message. Maidstone Local Plan has been debated for a very long time and includes all site for housebuilding together with the quantities therein.
A lot of Conservatives voted against the Local Plan as it did not contain the infrastructure to support it, (you can find details on the named vote statistics either on the MBC website or the article on KM Online (here is the link) http://www.kentonline.co.uk/maidstone/news/council-backs-maidstone-homes-plan-134278
The Lib Dems all voted for the plan with the exception of 1 abstaining !
£125 million has been earmarked for Ebsfleet and Bean upgrades, £10 Billion for a HS4 Air from Ashford to Gatwick and £3 billion for the 3rd Thames crossing.
If there was not a penny in the pot at all for a Maidstone Ring Road, (hardly believable), then just 0.27p a day on Council tax bills would pay for it.
Helen Grant (Con) and Helen Whatley (Con) asked for a judicial review but it was not to be.
